I Can't Wait To Get Moving!
Rediate's Fund was set up to raise £20,544 for a Snapdragon elevating power wheelchair which will give Rediate the independence she has never had before.
Why Snapdragon?
The benefits of the Snapdragon power chair are that it is height adjustable, from the floor to standing height, She will be able to splash her hands in the puddles, feel the grass and mud, pick up things that she drops and put them back on the shelves (as she always wish to tidy up), she will hopefully be able to move herself into and out of the chair because it can go to floor or sofa or bed level, which allows children significant advantages when participating in daily activities in educational, home and social environments. In addition, it has a frame that helps children to stand within their wheelchair which means they can stand upright and be mobile. This provides even more ability for children like Rediate to participate in all environments, while building muscle and bone strength in their legs. The chair also turns on the spot, and has a tactical movement in a way most power chairs do not allow. All this allows the child to access things in the same way any able-bodied child of their age can do, and which they would not otherwise be able to do.
The Big Price?
Snapdragons are custom made, the cost includes yearly servicing and replacement parts and batteries for five years. As Rediate grows, new seats for the Snapdragon will be provided. It also has a standing frame attachment. Everything is made especially for Rediate. Unfortunately the NHS do not fund for chairs like the Snapdragon, the NHS only meets the childs clinical needs not social and development needs, that is why we need your help.
We are looking to raise this money as soon as we can, because our daughter is missing out on learning how to become independent, with everyone's help I'm sure we can make it to this and would be grateful for everything and anything you can give.
